MATERIAL OF THE YEAR PAVILION, 'BEYOND THE CHIPPER'

EXHIBITION DESIGN, CREATIVE PRODUCTION
Taking inspiration from an archipelago, the exhibition showcases each of the four designers (Charlotte Kidger, Kodai Iwamoto, Dirk vander Kooij, Weez & Merl) on a separate plinth-island to emphasize the radically different approaches to recycled plastic as raw material to work with.
Given the multiple entry points to the space and the heavy circulation flow, it was important to create a non-linear experience of the exhibition. The plinths are circular, painted in an off-grey and only slightly risen from the floor. To further support the ‘reuse’ theme and minimise waste, the exhibition walls were created using rented Movisi Links.
