Architectural Foundation Ante-pavilion 2019 competition entry is an open invitation to reconsider the unfulfilled potential of rooftop use, Common Grounds is the skeleton of a playground that could be brought to life through policy changes.
We often pose the question on how we could rethink the future of public social spaces in relationship with an increasingly crowded city, rooftops might be the solution, they are places of gathering and reflection that could easily host a multitude of uses.
The framework of the playground is lifted from the street level and stripped of its immediate usability. It detaches from the roof surface as a critical statement of what private flat roofs could be if opened to public use.
